It’s a BOY!

June 25, 2008

Today was an amazing day.  The miracle of life, the wonders of God truly words cannot explain.  As we went into our ultrasound we were excited and I had to pee very badly. It took quite some work to get our kiddo to show the goods! Everything looks great ten fingers, ten toes, heartbeat, spine, etc. It was only in a brief second that the sex was revealed – so he’s modest or loves to sleep  – and I’m ok with both of those things!

We are thrilled! Just being able to see him, to see his heart beat, to see his little hand move! I think my mouth was open the whole time and tears shed. Life is truly a gift.

It has been fun for us to tell our family and our friends and to have them share in our joy!

Dog Day

June 20, 2008

Today I am embracing “take your dog to work” day.  As I type this a tired Winston (from playing fetch in hallway) is laying under my desk- on my feet – I wonder how long he’ll stay there.  It’s fun having him here although it can be at time annoying.

It makes me think about what it will be like to bring a kid to the office.  Well it’s not quite the same thing of course but there are some similarities.

Adam and I have had a few bites on our house hopefully they will turn into something fruitful soon.  It has been really nice having the house so shiny and clean all the time since we have to be prepared. I am excited about moving into the new house although I haven’t begun to pack a single item.  I keep telling myself I don’t need to because the new house is so close to our current house, hopefully that won’t cause me stress later.

We find out next week the sex of the baby I feel like I can hardly wait- how exciting it will be to be able to call the baby by a name or at least the appropriate pronoun! I’ve started giving some thought to the nursery and what I want it to look like, but once we know what we are having that will help in decision making.

Oh, there goes Winston – he’s back up and poking around my office now – no doubt he will be ready for play round 2 in the next few minutes!

I have been trying to intentionally think about what life will be like when the baby comes. Admittedly, that is hard to do, because it still feels miles away from now. I wonder what Winston will do, act like. He’s been pretty protective as of late. Our friend Kristen (who is a vet) gave us some information on how to get your dog prepared to met your baby.  Winston has been our baby for 3 years so it will be an adjustment for all of us to have an actual baby.

Just in the past few days I can tell my belly has changed even more.  I already need to post a new picture! Maybe I’ll get one up this weekend.  – Winston is back to laying down again, he must get his indecisiveness from me!

Some Pictures!

This weekend Adam and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary.  We made it a lazy weekend which was really nice since we have been so busy lately with house stuff.  Here are some pictures for you to share in- one is of my “baby bump” and the other is of us before we went out to dinner.  Enjoy!

More changes.

June 4, 2008

It seems that we have fallen into this rather large season of change in our lives.  Not only with the baby on the way but we have decided to sell our house and move to another home in Waco.

Arriving at this decision was a difficult one.  We are rather attached to our house and the memories we have there. If it only had a bit more room I think we could make it work.  But even after some creative storage ideas and purging of things, we found that still a 2 bedroom 1 bath would not be accommodating to our growing family.

So I called my friend Julie who works for a local real estate agency and said I think we are ready to move.  I knew right away that it would have to be the perfect house in order for us to actually go through with it.  I didn’t want to have to remodel or do a bunch of work on the new house.  We didn’t want to leave our current neighborhood because we have so many friends there and we have really built our lives around that area.  There weren’t very many options to look at.  But Julie found out about a house coming on the market the next day so we drove by it.

It just so happens to be the house right next to our friends Ryan and Kristen.  It was built in 2005 so it needs hardly any work and it has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths.  The heavens opened and we knew this was the perfect thing for us right now. So we made an offer and placed our house on the market.  With the offer accepted we are on our way to a new place.

I am hoping our current home sells quickly so we don’t have to worry about it.  So if you know any one interested you can check it out on-line:  http://kellyrealtors.mattewers.com/idx/propdetail.php?quid=127279&qtype=resi

We had a doctor’s appointment on Monday.  All is going well. We scheduled our ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby.  It will be in 3 weeks.  Adam and I are both super excited to finally know what it is and hopefully the baby will cooperate so we can find out.  I’ve heard stories of people not finding out because the little one wouldn’t behave!  I am interested to hear what you think it is? Any guesses?
